What we offer

Each school in NSW offers something slightly different depending on the community. Here's what we offer for you.

Canteen

All canteens in NSW public schools must meet certain requirements. These include providing more healthy food and drink options – to make the healthy choice an easy choice for students. Visit Healthy school canteens to learn more.

The canteen's aim is to provide a healthy variety of food to students and staff at an affordable price. It follows the NSW Canteen Association's "Healthy Eating for Kid's" guidelines.

Much of the canteen's fresh produce is sourced from The Oaks local businesses. This ensures quality fresh produce at all times.

The canteen operates 4 days a week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday). Cash or Eftpos facilities are available.

The canteen roster is scheduled on a four weekly cycle with two to three parents working at a time. If you work on the canteen you are usually required to be at school from 9am to 1pm. If you are interested in assistanting please contact our canteen manager.

Uniforms

When students wear a school uniform, they feel included in our school community.

Students, teachers, parents and carers, as well as members of our local community helped develop our school uniform to make sure it:

  • meets the requirements of occupational health and safety, anti-discrimination and equal opportunity legislation

  • includes items that are affordable, comfortable and made from easy-care and easy-wear fabrics

  • is appropriate for the full range of school activities

  • is suitable for all body shapes.

Learn more about the NSW Department of Education’s School Uniform Policy.

The parents and citizens' association (P&C) supports the school's philosophy of encouraging all students to wear full school uniform each day.

Our uniform shop is located on site, managed by the P&C and staffed by parent volunteers. It provides value prices to all, ensuring that no child is discriminated against with respect to dress code compliance.

2010 saw The Oaks Public School align itself as a Sun Safe School through the NSW Cancer Council. All children are now required to wear wide brimmed hats to play outside.
